Hair and Makeup
Cocoa Beach Bridal Hair and Makeu
Your hair and make up is an important part of your day. So, after two decades in the business as a Destination Wedding Planner and Photographer and after a couple of recent incidents with hair and make up that could have easily been avoided, I have put together a few things you may want to consider that you may not think of when planning your hair and makeup for your wedding outdoors, in the "elements" that could be high winds, humidity and possible light rain. Definitely want to ask the right questions when considering who you choose. Not many days out on the beach are "still and perfect," and there is no way of knowing, so the best thing to do is be prepared with a durable hairstyle that will look good throughout your ceremony and for the duration of your after party, whether it be for two or twenty people. You still want your hair to be pretty after you come off of the beach!
The role of a good hairdresser is to advise you against a hair do that may not look good once you step from the indoors to the outdoors. I am seeing that this has not been the case and it is unfortunate because you depend on your hairdresser to tell you, "this is super cute, but not practical and you will probably be very upset that all of your curls have falling out our your extensions show through."
We recommend that if you really want a veil, keep it short, a birdcage veil is beautiful and will not blow in your face, get make up on it and or fall off in the wind. However if the veil is your thing, just keep this in mind.
A beautiful updo or partial updo is recommended over long curled hair. When you pin it too, keep in mind pretty barrettes and pins that have pretty stones and metal parts that stick up will catch on any loose flying hair and it will get stuck in it. Sometimes this is very difficult to get out. Most importantly any curls, especially long ones do not hold up if it is windy or HUMID, this will be in your face more than laying down all perfect, (like it was when you were indoors.) If your extensions are not properly attached, they will be visible in the wind. A good hairdresser would know the value of this information and advise you properly.
If you do have your hair done professionally and they will be coming to your room, suite, house be sure to convey to them that you need them to be on time. The sun don't wait for anyone and neither should our brides.
Important notes about hair and makeup:
When going to see your hair dresser on your wedding day, be sure to wash your hair the day prior, not the day of your wedding and wear a button up shirt so you won't mess your hair up getting dressed.
We also recommend that you do your hair and make up early in the day your wedding day, just in case we do have to adjust your time for bad weather.
